Connecting People
Connecting People
icarimakan brings all home bakers/chefs and street hawkers who make a living by sharing their culinary skills onto a common platform that allows us to look for food from these hidden gems; providing an alternative to the more commercialized food that we find on other platforms. Unless we continue to cari makan and support them, these hidden gems may become lost in the wilderness of pandemic-stricken urban jungles or locked away in homes.
VISION:

Supporting Livelihoods.
Enrich the lives of street hawkers and home bakers/chefs by connecting them to those in search of good food and showcasing their contributions to the local culinary scene.
MISSION:

Uncovering Hidden Gems.
To discover and promote street hawkers and home bakers/chefs who work hard to make a respectable and decent living by sharing their gastronomical creations with us.
Principle
We operate based on the following principles:
RESPECT
We will always treat our street hawkers and home bakers/chefs with full respect. What they have to offer may not be well-known or endorsed by professional food critiques yet (and perhaps they will be in time to come!), but we believe in supporting them nonetheless because they toil hard to make a respectable living and are committed to offering us delicacies that are prepared to the best of their culinary abilities. For some, they are just sharing their passion and spreading their love through their food.
TRUST
Our platform is based on mutual trust. Street hawkers and home baker/chefs put in their best efforts to whip up delicious food. Consumers must be sincere in supporting them when placing orders, and try to avoid last minute cancellations as these will lead to food and costs wastage.
PATIENCE
Patience is a virtue! As our home bakers/chefs do not operate like restaurants or the usual food joints, your order may take a few days or weeks to be fulfilled. While some of them have left their contact details on this platform, many of them are (like us) not young and accustomed to navigating social media and online ordering systems. Some of our featured street hawkers and home backers/chefs may not be active on this platform, but they (and we!) would be most appreciative if you could come in person to seek out these hidden gems and support them.
